Digital Education Changes the Face of Schooling for Many

The famed human-rights activist, Martin Luther King Junior, once said that the function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. It has always been stressed upon that memorizing facts and figures isn’t education as it neither quenches the inquisitiveness of pupils nor builds the base for intelligence and character development.

Education in Sri Lanka has been digitized and revamped using technologies. Digital classrooms have come to the rescue of thousands of students who are no longer being pressurized into rote learning and educators who can now draw a distinctive line between memorizing and educating. These digital classroom solutions not only make the arduous task simpler for teachers but even students learn to harbor and hone their imaginative skills.

Education of Sri Lanka has had a glorious past and the country has a literacy rate of 98.1%, highest in South-Asia. The great step towards digitizing involves relieving the students from the burden which bounds to get developed overtime because of numerous subjects, assignments and tests. Through digitization, students get to learn through attractive graphics and can readily submit their assignments through cloud computing. This efficient way of submission is also being accepted open-heartedly by educators as they can easily get back to the students and can provide them with immediate corrections and feed backs.

With the usage of educational apps, one can ensure that students are not only learning in a new way but are also advancing in times of technology. Traditional chiding and forcing students to rote learn the entire syllabus is a passé and these applications aim to make the process of passing information more interactive and their primary motive is to instill a feeling of inquisitiveness which is often killed by mundane books and morose teaching methods.

Online education in Sri Lanka has been welcomed with open-arms by educators, students and even by parents. This concept proves that education can stretch beyond boundaries and is no longer curbed and captivated in classrooms. The process of digitization has helped teacher to understand the doubts of students in a better way and even explaining complex processes, mathematical problems or any other subject has become simpler. Through these technologies, students can visualize the various scientific experiments, mathematical problems, geography etc and that helps them to understand in a more efficient way. Clueless reading and rote learning is ineffective if the doubts of students haven’t been clarified in the initial stage and digital education ensures that students understand the concepts thoroughly.

Digitizing of Education in Sri Lanka

The iconic American psychologist and educational reformer, John Dewey, had simply put the significance of education in a sentence and he once remarked, “Education is not the preparation of life but life itself”. This statement emphasizes on the learning and teachings which are beyond the pages of insipid textbooks and are beyond the walls of a moribund class room. Over the years, education has gone under drastic transformation and can no longer be considered as an assiduous task of memorizing irrelevant facts.

With technological innovations in the field of education even the hardest of theorems from mathematics books have become interesting to a number of pupils. These technological innovations involve digital classrooms that explain each and every subject in a detailed manner with interesting visuals. These innovations aim to increase the inquisitiveness of students unlike the traditional methods which are not only time-consuming but also monotonous for most of the students.

Education in Sri Lanka has also been revamped and upgraded and things have also become easier on the ends of pedagogues. Teachers have realized that through these technological modifications, the process of imparting information has become interactive and kids are willingly participating in the activities of the class room.

It was noticed that English books in Sri Lanka failed to capture the attentions of pupils but these digital classroom solutions paved a new path for interactive education. With vibrant visuals and narratives, there has been an exponential increase in the interest of students and these solutions have also made it easier for the teachers to collect and grade assignments. Assignments can easily be shared and corrected simultaneously without any hassle with these solutions.

Traditional teachings methods have become a passé as these methods are not only more interesting but also make it convenient for the teachers. The archaic methods of teaching, places the whole responsibility of learning on students and ignore the fact that imparting education has always been a two-way process. Even teacher training courses are being initiated and that will surely be a significant improvement in the field of education as at times pedagogues fail to understand the mindset of students. Such training courses make the teachers well-versed with the usage of educational applications and encourage them to teach through special MBD books which further help witness the process of education from the viewpoint of their pupils.

Education of Sri Lanka has drastically improved with these educational applications and that ensure that the forthcoming generation is not just educated but also knowledgeable and intellectual.

Taking Education Beyond Classrooms

Education has undergone significant changes and no longer is education limited to the boundaries of classrooms and no longer it comprises of rote learning. Technological advancements have completely modified the field of education and now it focuses more on the development of intellect and encouraging the power to think among students rather than making them cram facts and formulas.

One of the major transformations in education has been through internet. Online education has become excessively popular in countries like Sri Lanka. Online education in Sri Lanka makes use of the most valuable resource technology has bestowed upon us, Internet. Students are not only able to study each subject deeply and with intricate details but even the monotonous subjects like history or math are made interesting with the use of visuals and narratives.

Education in Sri Lanka is being constantly revamped and the use of educational apps is being encouraged by educators and is being well-received by students as well. Online education also makes it easier for students to submit their assignments and for teachers it makes the process of correction and providing feedback even more convenient. Students no longer need to wait and teachers can readily respond without going through the hassles of correcting a pile of notebooks every week.

Digital classroom solutions have become immensely popular as they make the process of teaching more interactive and even students are able to grasp concepts easily as the monotonous texts have been replaced by rich multimedia content and studying is no longer an arduous task but an enjoyable activity.

One would definitely agree that teaching is a two-way process and both students as well as educators are equally involved and are benefited from training. Traditional teaching methods place the whole responsibility of learning on students rather on the contrary an innovative teacher has to devise ways and techniques to make even the most mundane topic appear interesting. For the same purpose teacher training courses in Sri Lanka are being encouraged. These courses aim to acquaint the educators with modern teaching methods and help them understand the needs of children in a better way. Such teachers are well-versed with the uses of educational applications and appreciate the inquisitiveness of students.

Such modifications have had a beneficial impact on the education in Sri Lanka and strengthened the famous saying by former South African President, Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Educational Apps: Revamping Education for Educators and Disciples

The great scientist, Albert Einstein, once said, ‘Education is not learning of facts, but the training of mind to think.’ and this statement still holds truth and justifies the changing practices in the field of education.

With the immense technological advancement, even the field of education has been completely revamped. Smart tools like educational apps are being widely preferred by educators all over the globe. This advancement in education is being welcomed by students as well who prefer to be taught in an innovative manner rather than being made to be rote learned.

These new innovations in technology have changed the face of education of Sri Lanka and are gradually becoming popular all over the globe. In Sri Lanka, education has become a priority for the government and every step is being taken to provide education which broadens the horizon of student.

Even teacher training in Sri Lanka is done through apps and redundant traditional methods are avoided. These technological innovations prepare the teacher in a better manner and also facilitate them in providing quality education. The teachers who are well-versed with these technologies can obviously help and guide their students in a more advanced way.

These teaching technologies help the inquisitive students in more than one way and help them to build the essential skills of social interaction. Children complete their daily tasks on a tablet or on a laptop and are not smothered by the weight of books, both literally as well as figuratively. At homes too, parents can check the progress of their children easily using these tablets or laptops and need not go through each and every notebook.

Online education in Sri Lanka has also become immensely popular especially among students who wish to learn new things in an entertaining way. Education without interest and entertainment is often seen as a burden but when an arduous mathematical problem is presented as a puzzle, the students are delighted to solve them and needless to say, get to learn more. All the assignments can also be submitted online and can be readily checked and graded by teachers through cloud computing. This latest innovation allows teachers to give a feedback readily without any delay.

Educational apps such as Nytra promote sustainable learning and build an analytical way of thinking which is not granted by the redundant traditional techniques. These mobile apps can easily be downloaded and help the student to develop a keen inquisitiveness which is often killed by the monotonous teaching schedules.
